Is the FBI probing encrypted Signal chats that track ICE activity?
The FBI, DHS and DOJ are probing all digital platforms that track ICE activity.
More specifically platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Google who routinely collect wide array of user data
including geolocation via GPS and embedded meta data, browser history, and other device user data, usage metrics and logs. These large platforms are largely considered "honeypots" for user data
making them preferable targets by agencies like DHS who have repeatedly attempted to gain access to this information through administrative subpoenas which is
supposed to be illegal.
StopICE does not collect this information, and the Signal messaging app utilizes AES 256-bit end-to-end encryption which
protects users from snooping eyes.
StopICE Alerts operates in the interest of legal transparency and public safety.
