The Whistleblower Protection Act (WPA) is a U.S. federal law that protects federal
employees from retaliation after they report waste, fraud, abuse, and other misconduct.
It prohibits retaliation against employees who disclose information about violations of law,
gross mismanagement, gross waste of funds, abuse of authority, or dangers to public health
and safety. The act provides a mechanism for employees to report wrongdoing and seek protection
against negative employment actions.
